Comparison of the MPhil/PhD Programmes in Public and Private Universities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan

It was a comparative study about MPhil and PhD programmes in public and private universities in Khyber pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. The population was all the recognized universities in Pakistan. The data was collected from the Head of the education departments of the 06 sampled universities. The tool used was interview. Data was analyzed and findings were drawn. The study concluded that public universities were better in facilities provision and faculty/staff members. Private universities were students centered and more research oriented. The study recommended that there should be a public private partnership in universities and both sectors should focus on good quality education by applying modern teaching practices and access to modern technologies. An Assisment of Teachers’ Unions and Their Contribution in Educational Reforms in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pakistan

The study in hand deals with the investigation of the contributions of teachers’ unions in educational reforms. The main objectives of the study were to highlight the main functions of teachers’ unions and to evaluate the importance of teachers’ union for education system. All secondary school teachers in Peshawar District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pakistan were population of the study. Ten High Schools and Higher Secondary Schools and 100 teachers were chosen as sample of the study through random sampling technique. Questionnaires as research instrument were used for the collection of data which was then analyzed by SPSS. Findings of the study indicate that teachers’ unions are the integral part of education system which work for the delivery of quality and effective education and also struggle for the professional development of teachers’ community. The existence of teacher unions can cause the enhancement of literacy rate in the country. Keywords: Teachers’ Unions, Representatives, Reforms, Collective Force, Innovation, Harmony.

Motherhood and ‘Studenthood’: The Lived Experiences of College Student Mothers in Samar State University

This study used phenomenological approach in exploring the lived experiences of student mothers in Samar State University. Fourteen (14) student mothers participated in the study. Participants met the description of a student mother: 1) A bonafide student of Samar State University; 2) a biological mother 3) single parent or married 4) dad the custody of the child/ Living with her child and 5) willing to participate in the study. From the data analyses, three major themes emerged: (1) Juggles and Struggles of Student Mothers; (2) Inspirations and Motivations, and (3) Coping Dual Roles. The result suggest that these student mothers experienced a challenging yet fulfilling dual role. Their lived experiences can encourage and inspire other student mothers to pursue higher education.
